Rio has a relatively new chairman in Dominic Barton, who has flagged an overhaul of the board to put more emphasis on know-how in mining, sustainability and technology, and better local-country expertise. Chief executive Jakob Stausholm took on the top job at Rio in January 2021 and has had to focus on trying to sort out issues left behind by his predecessor Jean-Sebastien Jacques. Analysts expect BHP’s takeover of Oz Minerals to proceed on the back of the “best and final” $28.25 a share offer lobbed on Friday, but don’t think it will be finalised until well into next year….
