The Boeing 747 Jumbo series proved much more successful than the larger Airbus A380 Superjumbo for a range of reasons. One is that the A380 came too late when ultra-large quadjets were being superseded by more efficient twin-jets. But another reason is that the 747 is much more versatile in its applications.
