Chinese Internet security software provider 360 has announced plans to acquire Msafe.com.cn, a Chinese mobile phone security manufacturer, to explore the mobile phone security market.

Zhou Hongwei, chairman of 360, told local media that upon completion of the acquisition, the company will maintain the Msafe brand and its products will continue to be updated. The products of Msafe will be developed synchronously with 360's own mobile phone security products.

At present, mobile phone security has become an increasingly prominent issue in China. With the development of the 3G industry, mobile phone users enjoy more applications, contents, and payment functions. However, the opening of the platform brings opportunities to hackers and various mobile phone viruses have started to emerge. In addition, mobile phones have the natural advantages for payment and commercial activities, making it an attractive target for malicious software.

With the acquisition of Msafe.com.cn, 360 can accelerate its deployment in the mobile phone security sector, laying a good foundation for its further expansion in the Chinese security field.

No financial terms of this deal have been released.
