Chinese Robotics Pioneers Pivot to Embodied AI as First-Half Revenues Surge

Chinese provinces are pushing forward with their own provincial policy support for robotics and embodied intelligence to expand to match private sector momentum, exemplified by Jiangsu province officially incorporating embodied AI robots into its updated consumer goods trade-in subsidy program.

Under the newly adjusted policy released by the Jiangsu Provincial Development and Reform Commission alongside other provincial departments, consumers purchasing eligible smart products receive a government subsidy of fifteen percent off the final sales price. For the first time, embodied intelligence robots including humanoid models, exoskeleton assistance devices, and robot dogs are included alongside nine other categories of smart home and digital appliances. The initiative caps individual subsidies at fifteen hundred yuan per sub-category and runs through the end of December 2026.

This policy backing arrives as leading Chinese robotics firms post strong financial results for the first half of 2026, driven by an industry-wide pivot toward embodied intelligence. Companies such as Topstar, Dobot, Rococo, and Unitree reported robust revenue growth, reflecting high market demand as manufacturing transitions from rigid mass production to flexible, multi-variety operations. Unitree posted first-half revenues of approximately 1.15 billion yuan with net profits reaching about 274 million yuan, while Topstar achieved 1.28 billion yuan in revenue alongside a significant surge in net profits.

Traditional industrial robotics makers are leveraging their deep baseline data and factory floor experience to capture emerging market opportunities in embodied intelligence. Firms like SEER are scaling their core robot brain products with high gross margins, while collaborative and humanoid robot suppliers expand their order books through strategic partnerships and supply chain integration. Industry executives note that real-world factory floors and warehousing environments serve as the ultimate testing grounds for these technologies, ensuring that embodied intelligence evolves from laboratory concepts into stable, commercialized operational units.
