Motorola Receives SARFT Certification Digital Cable System Solutions

Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced that it has received certification from the State Administration for Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) for the Motorola DVi1000 digital cable DVB set-top and the Motorola MediaCipher conditional access system.

With these certifications, Motorola has completed testing on all key elements of the company's end-to-end digital cable solution for China.

Earlier in the year, Motorola submitted and received certification for several digital cable headend products including the Motorola SEM high density QAM modular and scrambler, SE1010 encoder and TMX multiplexer. SARFT is the recognized industry standards organization in China, and these certifications are expected to facilitate the rapid roll-out of digital cable. By regulating technology performance and interoperability, SARFT will enable deployment of both cable infrastructure and consumer premise equipment.

The Motorola DVi1000 DVB digital terminal platform was specially designed for systems that deliver secure video and interactive broadcast services over DVB-compliant CATV networks. The DVi1000 decodes standard MPEG-2 transport streams including most audio/video decoder formats. Additionally, it is designed to support third-party Conditional Access Systems (CAS).
