Seven months after Foxconn's signing of a letter of intent with the Nanjing municipal government, the Taiwan based company has now formally unveiled its software base in Nanjing, which is also the company's first software base in mainland China.

Different from Foxconn's other projects, Foxconn chose the less developed Pukou District of Nanjing for this new software base. Terry Kuo, CEO of Foxconn, said they did so to coordinate with the local government's planning.

Foxconn Nanjing Software Base will be engaged in wireless communications networks, enterprise information security and medical software.

According to media reports, Foxconn aims to recruit 30000 software engineers in five years for the Nanjing base to provide software talents for its branches throughout the country. Right now, the base, which already has more than 200 software developers, has begun operating.
