OpenV.com, a Chinese video network service website, announced that the company has become a video partner of Cmse.gov.cn, the official website of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, the unit that was responsible for the launch of the Shenzhou-7 spacecraft in September 2008.

OpenV.com hopes the cooperation will aid the revenue growth of the company and according to its vice president Zeng Fuhu, the company expects to make revenue of over CNY100 million by the end of 2008 via its online television services. OpenV.com offered video data processing and video hosting services to the online video broadcast of Shenzhou-7 spacecraft and the historic spacewalk of its taikonauts.

Zeng says that it has become a popular trend for Internet companies to compete for the broadcast authorizations of big news and sporting events. Meanwhile, these authorized videos are the major income resources for video websites. However, he says that the advertising profit brought by the Shenzhou-7 spacecraft resources is currently not available.

Formally opened in April 2006, OpenV.com is a video platform that is based on its proprietary video search technology. Supported by the technologies of the British system software provider Autonomy System, OpenV.com can provide over 3,000 Chinese-language programs of more than 578 channels, covering about 30 Chinese mainstream TV stations, including CCTV, BTV and Phoenix TV.
