Hong Kong-based Artificial Life and Extempo Systems of Redwood City, CA, both providers of intelligent agent based software solutions, products and applications today announced the signing of a co-operation agreement in the area of e-learning.
Artificial Life, Inc. is preparing the launch of an innovative e-learning portal based on its proprietary intelligent agent and smart bot technology in Q2, 2004. The portal is aiming primarily at the Asian markets, especially Greater China with a focus on online English language and general science training. The portal will use new and non-standard paradigms for teaching students such as: intelligent agents as online teachers, role play scenarios, user specific content delivery and auto-adaptive skill assessment. The courseware currently developed by Artificial Life is a further enhancement of the core technology used in its innovative and successful e-learning product "Virtual Albert Einstein". Artificial Life intends to make its e-learning courseware also available on mobile communication devices and 3G phones.
Extempo will launch its Fluent Language Online Workshop (FLOW) on the new e-learning portal as a third-party content and technology provider. FLOW helps students master conversation skills for English as a second language (ESL). Complementing traditional ESL instruction, FLOW uses Extempo's Expert Agent technology to automate learning experiences leading to fluency. Life-like conversation partners provide immersive conversation practice. An expert ESL coach provides gentle, personalized feedback and coaching. By making these otherwise unavailable learning experiences affordable and accessible, FLOW makes conversational fluency an achievable goal for every ESL student.
