IBM and Dassault Systems today announced that Shunde Special Transformer Works (SUNTEN), China's leading manufacturer of dry-type transformers and urban electrical network equipment, has chosen their Product Lifecycle Management Solutions (PLM).
SUNTEN will deploy SMARTEAM, the award-winning, Web-based product data and lifecycle management solution developed by Dassault Systèmes and sold by IBM, to better manage and collaborate on product information throughout the enterprise. SUNTEN specializes in large-scale electric equipment for prestigious projects including the Three Gorges Hydro-electric Power project, Daya Bay Nuclear Power Station, Pudong International Airport, Guangzhou Subway, and the Oriental Pearl TV Tower.
Sunten developed the world's largest capacity dry-type excitation transformer overcoming extreme technical difficulties. The SMARTEAM solution will help SUNTEN to build an enterprise-wide PLM system that will enable development, marketing, and sales teams to collaborate on and manage its technology data and drawings. By controlling product data in a paperless web-based environment, SUNTEN will have rapid access to its existing production information, leading to improved product quality, reduced development costs, and shortened time to market.
