Sina has been found guilty of using a picture belonging to Viewstock, the Chinese stock image company, as the background at the top of its education channel webpage.

Although Sina had made some modifications to the picture (number BV-0082) before it was formally adopted, the court believes the use was unreasonable since it had not been approved by the proprietor. Consequently, Sina was ordered to publish an apology announcement for 24 hours and to pay the accuser CNY 2,000 in compensation.
