Syniverse (SVR) has been awarded a contract with China Unicom Macau, a subsidiary of the world's second largest CDMA wireless operator.
China Unicom Macau launched its cdma2000 1x mobile network in mid-October to initially serve roaming subscribers.
Syniverse provides China Unicom Macau with a full suite of voice roaming services that includes clearinghouse services for roaming revenue settlement and exchange between roaming partners, network connectivity, international signaling interoperability and a near-real time online customer management application used to track and troubleshoot service for roaming.
Prior to the launch of China Unicom's network, Macau was served only by GSM operators. With Syniverse's capabilities, millions of CDMA subscribers worldwide, many of whom travel into Macau from Mainland China, South Korea and Japan will now be able to enjoy seamless roaming into the popular travel destination.
Syniverse executed its first contract with China Unicom in October 2001 as part of the operator's service launch.
