Lu Gan, the new president of NEC China, has confirmed that the company has received US$225 million from its Japanese headquarters for its China-based mobile phone service.
This is the largest investment that NEC has made in China.
Lu Gan tells local media that since NEC's new global CEO took his position in April, he has listed China as the most important market in the world to realize its global expansion. And this additional investment into the mobile phone service in China is just one step in achieving that goal.
Lu says that the use of these funds will be carefully planned. He says that the company will continue to make middle and high-end mobile phones in China, and in the meantime, enlarge its investment on 3G services.
