SAS Was Europe's Most Punctual Airline In 2009

January 29, 2010
Press Releases

Beijing, China (January 29, 2010) /ChinaNewswire.com/ — SAS Scandinavian Airlines was Europe's most punctual major airline during 2009, with an overall arrival punctuality of 89.11%. SAS was also the world's third most punctual major airline for 2009 after Japan Airlines and ANA (All Nippon Airways) and only one of two European carriers in the top 10.

"We are exceptionally proud to be Europe's most punctual airline, and amongst the top three in the world. This position really underlines our promises to minimize our customer's time related to travel and to maximize their value of the time spent with us. Our staff does a tremendous job to ensure our customers arrive at their destination in time, especially considering the sometime severe weather conditions we are faced with in Scandinavia during the winter months," says Lars Olofsson, General Manager of Scandinavian Airlines China.

A class of its own — SAS Economy Extra: SAS was one of the first to introduce our innovative Economy Extra class to our long-haul flights in 2002. And today our aim of making travel as time efficient and smooth for both the modern business traveler and the leisure passenger wanting that little bit extra remains the same.

Passengers traveling on our Economy Extra class receive a range of Business class benefits, but at a much lower price. Travelers can skip queues by checking in at Business class counters, race through Fast Track security and enjoy priority boarding. They are also allowed greater baggage allowance, including one additional piece of hand luggage to take onboard. Travelers from China can also check-in online or print boarding passes at home or in the office to reduce time spent at the airport. On top of this, all SAS EuroBonus members receive an additional 150% EuroBonus points when traveling in Economy Extra.

The benefits and comforts of Economy Extra class continue onboard with each seat featuring a laptop power outlet so that our business passengers can work while traveling. And for those who want to relax, SAS offers wider (47cm/ 18"), more comfortable seats with almost a metre (38") of legroom, all located in a separate cabin to offer travelers a more spacious and peaceful environment.

During the flight, our crew will serve a cocktail and snack; a three-course dinner and coffee/tea with liqueurs; drinks, fruit and cold snacks between meals; and a light meal prior to landing. All the benefits of Business class, but at a much lower price with Economy Extra so passengers can arrive at their destination in good shape, both mentally and physically.
