Taiwanese PC maker Acer launched its Build Your Own Cloud service.

To promote the service, the company opened a Build Your Own Cloud experience center in Lung-Tan Aspire Park, Taipei, and launched a special logo for the business.

According to Stan Shih, chairman of Acer, BYOC is based on the Acer Open Platform. It will cooperate with more cross-platform and cross-industry business partners in the future to jointly establish a BYOC ecosphere. At the same time, he announced that the company will be re-positioning from a hardware company to an enterprise that integrates hardware, software, and service. With that in mind, BYOC will become the core of the company.

BYOC is Acer's self-built cloud brand which is based on the company's cloud platform AOP. With high security and reliability, it supports five different operating systems, including iOS, Android, and Windows; and it can be applied on four kinds of devices, including mobile phones, tablets, and laptops. BYOC can provide customized services to individuals and corporate users.

For individual users, BYOC launched a set of abApps applications. Taking a PC as server and hard disk as cloud storage space, an individual user can realize cloud service functions via abApps. abApps includes four applications: abFiles, abPhoto, abMusic abDoc, which target cloud management of files, photos, music, and documents, respectively.

For corporate users, Acer's development cloud platform AOP can offer cross-platform, cross-device, and cross-network cloud services as well as software hardware integrated services to them.
