Shanghai Lantern Network Acquires New Domain For International Expansion

Shanghai Lantern Network Technology Company Ltd., developer of WiFi Master Key, has acquired the international top-level domain name Wifi.com and launched its overseas expansion plan.

The domain was previously owned by Chen Donghong, founder of Techan.com. At present, the Wifi.com website is under construction and it already shows the logo of WiFi Master Key. Financial terms of the domain name acquisition were not released.

According to an insider from Lantern Network, the company has been preparing for its overseas development and will soon officially launch the project. The purchase of new top-level domain is a part of the preparation. For Lantern Network, this new domain will help the company gain more recognition, especially in international market.

WiFi Master Key is a convenient tool which can help users access to free-of-charge WiFi hotspots. The company was founded by Chen Tianqiao, founder of Shanda, and his brother Chen Danian.

By September 2014, WiFi Master Key claimed to have over 500 million users, including 230 million monthly active users. The product boasts a successful connection rate of over 70%.
