According to reports in foreign media, China's Huawei has restarted its smartphone business in Brazil and the company will maintain local manufacturing in the country.
In 2015, Huawei closed its consumer business unit in Brazil.
The Chinese company recently launched two high-end smartphone products: P30 Pro and P30 Lite in Brazil.
Meanwhile, Huawei established cooperation partner relationships with major retailers in Brazil. Five years ago, Huawei supplied to mobile operators and only one-tenth of its new devices were sold via mobile operators. In addition, in the latest cooperation, Huawei plans to make basic smartphones in the local market.
Brazil is the world's fourth largest smartphone market. Based on prediction of IDC, Brazil's smartphone sales will continue to grow in 2019. As the largest economy in Latin America, Brazil's information and communication technology industry will achieve a growth of 4.9% in 2019; and its smartphone sales will increase by 18% to USD24.5 billion.
