According to reports in South Korean media, LG Display's 8.5-generation OLED factory in Guangzhou will be put into operation in August 2019.
It is said that the initial monthly production capacity of this factory will reach 60,000 units and it will be increase to 90,000 units later.
In July 2018, LG Display's factory building investment plan was approved by China's State Administration for Market Regulation. At that time, LG Display expected that the factory can be put into production in the second half of 2019. The factory will mainly make UHD OLED panels for TVs between 55 inches and 77 inches.
This is reportedly LG Display's third product line in Guangzhou, following its module factory and LCD production line. It is also the company's first large-size OLED panel product line outside South Korea.
