Former President Donald Trump could have sought as much as $10 trillion in reparations from China over the damage caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Trump's trade adviser Peter Navarro wrote about a plan he pushed the president to go forward with in his new book, In Trump Time: A Journal of America's Plague Year, which came out Tuesday. In the run-up to the 2020 election , Navarro was among the advisers pushing Trump to set up a blue-ribbon panel of experts to study the origins of COVID-19 and punish China for it, as the coronavirus originated in Wuhan.
