CO2 tax at Europe’s border: Revolution or protectionism?

The EU is picking up speed with climate protection regulations. For imports from abroad, a carbon tax will soon be introduced. But poorer countries could be unfairly disadvantaged by this. Last year, the European Union announced plans for a 55% reduction in its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, setting its sights higher than the 40% it had targeted before. Achieving this more ambitious goal will require the EU to rapidly restructure its high-emission industries.
