China's quantum computing sector is experiencing an unprecedented capital influx as venture funds, state-backed entities, and industrial giants race to finance the country's transition from laboratory research to commercial scale.
Early-stage investments continue to surge, exemplified by Shanghai-based Wujie Quantum Technology Co., Ltd. closing a tens-of-millions-of-yuan angel financing round led by Fudan Science and Technology Innovation Fund, alongside Xinfeng, Qianghai Ark, and Zhongying Capital. Founded in June 2026, Wujie Quantum aims to supply quantum processing units and core infrastructure for fault-tolerant quantum computing, serving global research units and commercial hardware manufacturers.
Wujie Quantum's seed round mirrors a broader, multi-billion-yuan financing wave across China's quantum supply chain. In the first quarter of 2026, domestic financing in the quantum sector reached 3.204 billion yuan, surpassing the total raised throughout all of 2025. In July 2026, Origin Quantum completed a Pre-IPO round of nearly 3 billion yuan led by China North Industries Group, pushing its post-money valuation near 24 billion yuan as its registered capital expanded from 30 million yuan to 360 million yuan. Concurrently, CIQTEK received approval for its Star Market initial public offering registration, while Boson Quantum initiated IPO guidance and SpinQ completed a 1-billion-yuan Series D funding round.
The surge in private and public capital is anchored by a dominant presence of state-backed guidance funds, state-owned enterprise funds, and regional government vehicles. Foreign venture capital funds are largely absent from recent major rounds, replaced by a four-tiered domestic capital matrix comprising national guidance funds, central enterprise funds, provincial funds, and district-level investment arms.
Corporate investments are also expanding upstream and downstream. Quantum telecommunications firm Anhui QuantumCTek Co., Ltd. announced plans to partner with China Telecom and other state partners to launch a 1.5-billion-yuan quantum industry venture capital fund. China Telecom's investment arm will serve as the largest limited partner with a 7.35-billion-yuan, 49 percent stake, while QuantumCTek will contribute 300 million yuan for a 20 percent stake. The fund targets early-stage startups in quantum information, allocating at least 50 percent of its capital to pre-Series A projects.
The financial momentum builds on nearly three decades of foundational physics research originating at the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, Anhui province. Chinese research teams have achieved notable milestones, including the deployment of the Jiuzhang 4 quantum computational prototype in May 2026, which achieved a processing speed superior to existing top-tier supercomputers on specific algorithmic tasks.
Market data reflects steady revenue expansion across the sector. According to CCID Consulting, China's quantum computing market reached 11.56 billion yuan in 2025, maintaining a year-over-year growth rate above 30 percent and representing roughly 41.2 percent of China's overall quantum industry output. QuantumCTek reported 2025 revenues of 310 million yuan, up 22.53 percent, marking its first full year of net profitability since listing on the Star Market in 2020. Despite rapid growth, domestic industry analysts cite ongoing challenges, including a dependence on imported components for certain upstream hardware, differences in commercial maturity across sub-sectors, and tightened international technical cooperation. While quantum sensing and quantum key distribution have established commercial revenue loops, fault-tolerant quantum computing remains in an early operational phase, requiring sustained capital input before achieving widespread industrial deployment.
