Iran has built a vast network of more than 5,000 secret military-linked agencies to procure weapons components, explosives and heavy-duty vehicles from overseas, allowing Tehran to replenish its military supplies despite decades of Western sanctions and a US naval blockade, a Reuters investigation has found. The investigation, conducted in collaboration with Israeli-American risk consultancy 240 Analytics, identified a procurement network operating under names beginning with MOD, an abbreviation for Iran's Ministry of Defence.
