Trump administration to rescind Biden-era AI chip export curbs

U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration plans to rescind Biden-era curbs on the export of advanced artificial intelligence chips, a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Commerce said on Wednesday. The Framework for Artificial Intelligence Diffusion, as the rule is called, was issued by the U.S. Department of Commerce in January, a week before the end of the administration of former President Joe Biden. Companies were expected to comply with its restrictions starting on May 15. The regulation was aimed at further restricting AI chip and technology exports, divvying up the world to keep advanced computing power in the United States...
