A representative from the Chinese telecom operator China Telecom has revealed that the company has stored seven million 3G mobile phones, covering over 60 types of 20 brands, for the launch of a summer promotion to entice Chinese consumers to buy new phones.

China Telecom will reportedly start the large-scale promotion before August 31, 2010, collaborating with its national and regional distributors, sales channels, and mobile phone makers, including Samsung, LG, Nokia, Huawei, ZTE, Coolpad, K-Touch, and Hisense. Consumers who buy a 3G mobile phone will have the opportunity of gaining another 3G mobile phone in a lucky draw.

China Telecom also recently held a 3G mobile phone trade fair, which is said to be the largest of its kind for the telecom operator. Over 4,000 people from China Telecom, mobile terminal makers, provincial distributors, design companies, and chip factories participated in the trade fair.

According to the statistics provided by China Telecom, in May 2010, the company gained 3.02 million new mobile users and the total number of its mobile users reached 71.5 million. Its overall market share in the Chinese mobile market was 9.3%.
