Chinese ride-sharing platform Didi Chuxing recently announced its formal entry into Colombia and Chile and the company launched services in Bogota, capital of Colombia, and Valparaiso, the third largest city of Chile.
Those are reportedly Didi Chuxing's third and fourth Latin American markets, following Brazil and Mexico, marking the company's further acceleration of international expansion and a new stage of its international technology development and operation. Starting from 2018, Didi Chuxing shifted its focus to international expansion and Latin America is a key part of the move.
According to Didi Chuxing, the company will launch dedicated taxi service in Colombia in 2019. The company said in a statement that Colombia and Chile are two important growth and innovation centers in Latin America.
Didi Chuxing's expansion in Latin America is very fast. In January 2018, the company acquired Brazil's local Internet ride-hailing platform 99 for USD1 billion. In April 2018, it entered the Mexican market. With its entry into Colombia and Chile, the company's layout in Latin America is further enhanced.
