TCL's Flat Screen Becomes Association Standard

March 8, 2006
Editorial Staff

The China Standardization Commission has formally made TCL's flat television installation service standard as the standard for the entire association.

Zhang Xuejun, general manager of TCL-Thomson Electronic Company, says that TCL has already consulted with domestic television makers Konka and Skyworth and they have all reached consensus on an after-sales organization.

Zhang says that lack of unified standards for television components has been the main barrier for the television enterprises to save costs.

At present, China divides standards into four categories: national standard, industry standard, local standard and enterprise standard. According to Li Zhonghai from the China Standardization Commission, it is up to the enterprises to decided whether or not to implement many of the standards, but he encourages uniformity for greater consumer access to low-priced goods.
