Nanjing's local government has published a strategic goal for its information development in the next 15 years, saying that by 2020 it will build up a "Digital Nanjing" framework.

The Digital Nanjing framework includes setting up a regional information service center; establishing the city's position as a software city and information communication bridge in China; and building three national level bases, namely, a national electronic information industry base, a national software export and innovation base and a national network game and animation industry base.

In addition, the city has also set up a series of other goals for the years before 2020, including having a world-class comprehensive information infrastructure by 2020.
