A survey targeted at 52 Japanese companies operating in China shows that two-thirds of these companies are respected by less than 10% of the respondents.

The Japanese Enterprise Image Survey 2007, which was jointly released by China Japanese Enterprise magazine and Beijing Yipai Shiyan Consulting Co., Ltd, was started on October 1, 2007 and lasted for half a month. During that period, the organizer received 2089 effective questionnaires from consumers in ten Chinese cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Shenyang.

The survey shows that Sony is the most respected Japanese company in China with 65% of the respondents recognizing the company's good deeds and its products. And it is followed by Panasonic (46.1%); Canon, Toyota and Honda (each of the latter three received "respect" from over 30% of respondents); and Toshiba and Hitachi (each received respect from over 20% of respondents). According to the survey, only 15 Japanese companies are respected by over 10% of the Chinese consumers, while the remaining 37, which accounts for about-two thirds of the total, received respect from less than 10% of the Chinese consumers.

At present, there are more than 20000 Japanese companies in China and they have a total of up to 10 million employees.
